A Masonic meeting may include three kinds of activity.
First and most important, it is a set pattern of symbolic action, a sort of drama, dealing
with various events related to King Solomon's Temple, which have an allegorical or
symbolic meaning. These dramatic actions are particularly typical of meetings at which new
members enter the Order, or existing members advance to higher Degrees. Second, it usually
includes some business of the kind that any organization has to be concerned with. Third,
it may include some investigation or study of subjects related to the symbolism and
practice of Freemasonry.
